Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia has announced via its social media channels that the all-new Jaecoo J5 will make its official local debut on 5th March 2026.
Recently, the company also revised the J5’s estimated price to RM110,000, a decrease from RM120,000 when it was first announced during the model’s preview at the Omoda Jaecoo Carnival last year. To sweeten the deal even further, the company is offering a ‘Super Early Bird Package’ worth RM8,888 for customers who place an early booking.
The package includes a complimentary one-year insurance policy worth RM3,000, an ‘Ang Pau’ rebate worth RM3,888, and a set of J5 accessories valued at RM2,000. These accessories include an in-car karaoke set, a subwoofer, and a portable flashlight, perfect for those who view a traffic jam as a personal concert stage.
Positioned as the entry-level offering in the Jaecoo lineup here in Malaysia, the Jaecoo J5 debuts as a B-segment SUV measuring 4,380 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. These dimensions are comparable to the Proton X50 and the Honda HR-V, though the J5 is dwarfed by the Mitsubishi Xforce, which is expected to be launched locally in April 2026.
Taking a page out of its larger sibling’s playbook, the J5 also features an exterior design that’s reminiscent of a Range Rover. It features sleek headlights and taillights wrapped in a body featuring the short overhangs and beltlines that echo the British luxury icon, giving the Jaecoo J5 a premium aesthetic.

Inside, the J5 is equipped with an eight-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a portrait-oriented 13.2-inch infotainment display supporting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The cabin features faux-leather upholstery that the company claims is pet-friendly and TÜV-certified, thanks to its anti-bacterial and scratch-resistant materials. To help you transport your furry friends, there are even optional accessories such as pet nets, mats, and carriers.
Other interior features of the Jaecoo J5 include a wireless charging pad, an eight-speaker sound system, and ambient lighting. Boot space in the J5 is rated at 480 litres, expandable up to 1,180 litres by folding down the 60:40 split-folding rear seats.
Under the bonnet, the Jaecoo J5 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 147 hp and 210 Nm. This is paired with a CVT gearbox driving the front wheels.
Safety features include a 540-degree surround view camera with an under-floor display. The J5 also comes with a suite of Level 2.5 ADAS, which includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow and various collision mitigation systems.
