The Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) is now finally receiving the Android Auto connectivity feature via an over-the-air (OTA) software update, according to posts in the Proton e.MAS 7 Community Malaysia Facebook group.

As per the proposed roadmap shared by Proton earlier this year, the Q4 2025 software update – with version designation ‘Flyme Auto S 1.2.0’ – brings upon the Android Auto connectivity feature in both wired and wireless form, alongside improved screen brightness adjustments, better Malay language translations, as well as other “additional system optimisations” for better system stability, according to the published software changelog.

The update should be rolling out to existing users in batches, although users have also reported that they have successfully updated their cars at Proton eMAS service centres.

Proton has previously promised a quarterly update schedule for the Proton eMAS 7 in 2025. Earlier updates included fixes for several software bugs, charging and driving performance (ABS tuning) improvements, support for new third-party apps, as well as a new low-speed pedestrian warning system sounds, affectionately called the “ice cream truck” jingle, including an option to disable it completely.

Apple CarPlay support has also been added in July this year.

The national carmaker has not revealed any planned updates for 2026 yet, although it has previously stated that it will continuously introduce improvements to the car based on customer feedback.

Its second EV model, the Proton eMAS 5, came equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard from launch. The cheaper model, however, appears to run on a different software suite than its larger sibling, dubbed Atlas Auto.
