The GWM Tank 500 is already a very imposing SUV, but GWM Malaysia has made it even more so with the new Black Edition, priced at RM336,800, which is RM8,000 more than the standard model at RM328,800.
As the name suggests, the Black Edition features extensive black styling elements. The GWM Tank 500 Black Edition includes the following new exterior trimmings:
- Darkened headlights
- Black front grille
- Black front bumper garnish
- Black taillight garnish
- Black back door garnish
- Black rear bumper lower guard plate
- Black rear bumper protector
- Black door handles
- Black 20-inch alloy wheels
- Black electric side steps
- Black roof rail
- Black emblem
Aside from the additions of these new parts in black, the GWM Tank 500 Black Edition remains identical to the standard car, retaining the hybrid powertrain that consists a 2.0-litre turbocharged straight four engines paired to a nine-speed dedicated hybrid transmission housing electric motors.
Combined, this produces 346 hp and 648 Nm, which is sent to the wheels via a part-time selectable four-wheel drive (4WD) setup.

As an off-road SUV, the GWM Tank 500 boasts a 30-degree approach angle and features three locking differentials (front, rear, and central lock). It also comes equipped with a “Tank Turn” feature, off-road cruise control, a transparent chassis view, and 11 driving modes.
Despite its off-road capabilities, the Tank 500’s interior boasts luxurious amenities, including quilted Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated and massaging front seats, ventilated second-row seats, three-zone climate control with rear vents, rear door sunshades, and wood-like veneer trims.
Like the standard Tank 500, the Black Edition also comes with a lifetime powertrain warranty (engine, transmission, HEV components) limited to first-hand private owners, an eight-year or 200,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, a six-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, and a five-year free maintenance package.
In conjunction with the debut of the GWM Tank 500 Black Edition, GWM Malaysia is offering early customers an exclusive limited edition premium gift set.
In related news, GWM Malaysia announced the upcoming launch of the GWM Ora Good Cat and Ora Good Cat GT on 6th November, 2025. The standard Ora Good Cat is expected to be priced below RM115,000, while the sportier GT variant will be priced below RM125,000. Both EV hatchbacks are now open for booking.
