The 2025 Mazda CX-80 is offered exclusively as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in Malaysia. This powertrain pairs a 2.5-litre inline-four engine with 189 hp and 261 Nm to an electric motor making 172 hp and 270 Nm, for a total system output of 323 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via Mazda’s in-house developed eight-speed multi-plate clutch automatic transmission.

Equipped with a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the CX-80 has a pure electric range of 65 km (NEDC). The system supports AC charging at 7.5 kW, which allows for a 0-100% charge in approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The exterior of the CX-80 is shaped by Mazda’s “Graceful Toughness” design philosophy, which is an evolution of the brand’s Kodo design language. The front fascia features Mazda’s new “Signature Illumination” with a new design for the daytime running lights (DRLs).

Measuring 4,995 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,710 mm tall, and with a 3,120 mm wheelbase, the Mazda CX-80 is a large D-segment SUV that competes against the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Volvo XC90 in size.

The interior of the Mazda CX-80 is configured as a three-row, six-seater. The second row features two power-reclining captain’s chairs, which come with their own dedicated centre console that includes two cup holders and a storage compartment. In the back, the third row consists of two seats and is equipped with its own air-conditioning vents for passenger comfort.

Up front, the CX-80 is equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays—one for the driver’s digital instrument cluster and one for the central infotainment screen, which is controlled by a rotary dial on the centre console. Other interior features include Nappa leather upholstery, a wireless charging pad, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system.

For safety, the CX-80 is equipped with Mazda’s i-Activsense suite of ADAS features, which includes Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop & Go, front and rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and cruising and traffic support.
