Mazda’s Large Product range of SUVs has arrived in Malaysia with the launch of the Mazda CX-60 and Mazda CX-80. Fully-imported (CBU) from Japan, the Mazda CX-60 is available in Malaysia in one variant priced at RM200,510.40 on-the-road, without insurance.
The CX-60 features the latest iteration of Mazda’s Kodo design language with sleek lines throughout the exterior. In terms of size, it is significantly larger than the Mazda CX-5 yet smaller than the Mazda CX-8, making it comparable to rivals like the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Volvo XC60.
Inside, the interior is notable for its use of physical buttons for settings like climate control. The 12.3-inch infotainment display is controlled exclusively by a rotary dial on the centre console.

Powering the Mazda CX-60 in Malaysia is a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 189 hp and 261 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear-wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, which is developed in-house by Mazda itself, featuring a multi-clutch system instead of a traditional torque converter.
Globally, the CX-60 is offered with a variety of more powerful powertrains. These include a 3.3-litre mild-hybrid turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with 284 hp/450 Nm, a 3.3-litre inline-six turbodiesel mild-hybrid with 254 hp/550 Nm, and a plug-in hybrid variant with 327 hp/500 Nm.
These powertrains could be introduced to Malaysian roads in the future, as Bermaz Motor has hinted at plans to locally assemble (CKD) the Mazda CX-60 in Malaysia. For now, however, the 2.5-litre unit is the only option available.
