All-new 2025 Mazda CX-60 launched in Malaysia – RM201k, CBU, 2.5L NA

Bermaz Motor has launched the all-new Mazda CX-60 in Malaysia, approximately nine months after the model was first previewed at KLIMS 2024. A single variant is available for now as a fully-imported (CBU) model from Japan, priced at RM200,510.40 on-the-road, without insurance.

Positioned as one of Mazda’s “Large Product” range of SUVs, the CX-60 measures 4,740 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,680 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,870 mm. This makes the CX-60 significantly larger than the Mazda CX-5, but shorter than the Mazda CX-8, and comparable in size to rivals like the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Volvo XC60.

As an SUV aimed at competing with its more premium European rivals, the Mazda CX-60 sports the latest iteration of the minimalist Kodo design philosophy, with sleek lines throughout its body.

A standout feature is the long hood, a characteristic of premium rear-wheel-drive offerings. And while it features a new headlight design—which Mazda says is a first for the brand, with vertically stacked lamps and a distinctive L-shaped signature at both the front and rear—the CX-60 is still unmistakably a Mazda. Other standard exterior equipment on the Mazda CX-60 in Malaysia includes:

  • Automatic LED headlights with signature illumination and automatic levelling feature
  • LED daytime running lights (DRLs)
  • LED tailights with signature illumination
  • Automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers with variable intermittent function
  • Mazda advanced keyless entry
  • Automatic power-folding side mirror with memory function
  • Panoramic powered sunroof with sliding and tilt glass
  • Hands-free powered tailgate
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • 20-inch alloy wheels

Inside, the interior has a refreshingly traditional layout. While some rivals opt for a fully digital interface, you’ll be pleased to find a host of physical controls for adjusting climate settings. Even the infotainment system is solely controlled with a rotary dial (no touchscreen), similar to BMW’s iDrive controller of the past. Still, the Mazda CX-60 is packed with modern tech. Other interior equipment available in Malaysia includes:

  • Electronic parking brake
  • Leather wrapped multi-function steering wheel with power tilt and telescopic adjustment
  • Leather stitching and silver panel on the dashboard
  • Driver’s 12.3-inch colour TFT LCD Multi-info display
  • 12.3-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Automatic one-touch up-down power windows with anti-pinch
  • Heads-up display
  • Gear shift paddles
  • Drive mode selection switch (Normal, Sport)
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Rear aircon vents
  • 10-way power adjustable driver seat with memory function, with driver personalisation system
  • Eight-way power adjustable front passenger seat
  • 40:20:40 split-fold rear seats
  • Black leather upholstery
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Bose sound system

For the powertrain, the Mazda CX-60 in Malaysia is powered by a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder that makes 189 hp and 261 Nm of torque to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Globally, the CX-60 is also available with a variety of powertrains, which include a 3.3-litre mild hybrid turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with 284 hp and 450 Nm, a 3.3-litre inline-six turbodiesel mild hybrid making 254 hp and 550 Nm, or a plug-in hybrid with 327 hp and 500 Nm.

During a press conference with the media yesterday, Bermaz Auto Group Chief Executive Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Ben Yeoh, hinted at future plans for the Mazda CX-60 in Malaysia. He suggested that there are local assembly (CKD) plans in the works, and that new variants could be introduced in the future. This could mean that the other powertrains available globally, such as the inline-six and PHEV options, may eventually be offered in the Malaysian market.

For safety systems, the Mazda CX-60 is equipped with the company’s suite of i-Activesense ADAS features, which include:

  • Adaptive LED Headlamps (ALH)
  • Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
  • Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA)
  • Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
  • Lane-Keep Assist System (LAS) with Road Keep Assist
  • Driver Attention Alert (DAA) with Driver monitoring
  • Front and rear Smart Brake Support (SBS)
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop and Go functionality
  • Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS)

The Mazda CX-60 is available in five exterior paint jobs that are: Rhodium White, Zircon Sand, Platinum Quartz, Soul Red Crystal, and Jet Black.

Available in a single variant priced at RM200,510.40, the price includes a five-year manufacturer’s warranty and a five-year free maintenance programme, in accordance with Mazda’s manufacturer standards. This includes all required maintenance, labour, parts, and lubricants. Both the warranty and maintenance coverage are valid for five years or 100,000km, whichever comes first.
