Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) is making its presence felt with the launch of the newly facelifted Hyundai Tucson, alongside the all-new fifth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe, and the Staria Prestige in the same event.

Priced from RM143,888, the new Hyundai Tucson will be offered in four variants and three powertrain options, all being four cylinders: a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated engine that produces 156 hp and 192 Nm, a 1.6-litre turbo making 180 hp and 260 Nm and a 1.6-litre turbo hybrid that makes a combined output of 235 hp and 367 Nm.

The new Hyundai Tucson features subtle design updates, including a more compact front grille and redesigned daytime running lights (DRLs) that now protrude outward from the grille instead of sitting flush. At the rear, the Hyundai logo is integrated into the windscreen, complemented by a cleaner, more streamlined bumper design.

As standard, the Hyundai Tucson comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, which are upgraded to 18 inches on the Prime variant. The two Prestige variants feature 19-inch alloys, further distinguishing themselves from the rest of the line-up.

Unlike the exterior, the interior sees more significant changes—most notably the new Panoramic Curved Display, which integrates dual 12.3-inch screens. Other updates include a redesigned steering wheel, a steering column-mounted shifter, and a wireless charging pad that replaces the previous gear selector.

The new Hyundai Tucson also comes with a new 6.6-inch touch control panel for the automatic climate control, automatic windshield wipers, and four Type-C USB ports.

In terms of safety, the new Tucson comes standard with six airbags, while the Prime and higher variants benefit from Hyundai’s SmartSense suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) – although only the Prestige variants will get a blind spot view camera, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, and parking collision avoidance assist for reversing.
