All-new Mini Cooper Convertible S makes public debut at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 – RM329k

On display at MINI’s booth at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 was the MINI Cooper Convertible S, making its first public debut following its launch late last month.

The MINI Cooper Convertible S is priced at RM329,288 on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of the optional extended service package (RM10,400) that brings the warranty up from two years up to four years with unlimited mileage, alongside four years of free service.

Just like the F66 internal combustion engine-powered MINI Cooper, this “new” MINI Cooper Convertible S is actually based on the chassis of the previous generation model, not shared with the fully electric J01 Mini Cooper SE (or MINI Electric).

While the regular ICE MINI gets a revamped exterior design more in-line with the electric version, the Convertible here soldiers on with a very similar overall styling as the outgoing model – save for some updated wheel designs and new lighting elements (in the same light housing as before).

The standout feature here is – of course – the soft top, which takes only 18 seconds to open and 15 to close. If going top down is not your jam, it also has a sunroof function that opens the soft top partially. When fully closed, it displays the Union Jack flag in black and gray.

Standard exterior features of the car include:

  • Bi-LED headlights
  • LED cornering lights
  • Three modes of light signature
  • Piano black exterior trim
  • Favoured design exterior trim package
  • Exterior mirror logo projections
  • Door entry puddle lights
  • 18-inch Night Flash spoke two-tone rims
  • Retractable soft top

The interior is where you find the biggest changes, although it’s once again largely identical to its non-convertible sibling, featuring the same unique layout with its round central infotainment display. With the roof down, maybe drivers can see this interior in a new light.

Standard equipment for the interior includes:

  • Circular 240mm centre infotainment display running on MINI Operating System 9
  • Knitted dashboard
  • Up to seven different graphics of ambient light displays on the dashboard via two projectors behind the centre display
  • Multi-function sports steering wheels with vertical fabric spoke
  • 12-speaker 365 watts Harman Kardon sound system
  • John Cooper Works sports seats
  • Vescin and cord upholstery in Nightshade Blue colour
  • Wind deflector
  • Two USB Type C charging ports at the front
  • Two-zone automatic air conditioning with preconditioning

As the “all-new” MINI Cooper Convertible S is based on the same chassis as its outgoing F56-generation model, it also still shares the same B58 2.0-litre turbocharged engine as before.

  • Engine: 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder
  • Transmission: Seven-speed dual-clutch transmission
  • Driveline: Front-wheel-drive (FWD)
  • Max horsepower : 204 hp
  • Max torque: 300 Nm
  • 0-100 km/h: 6.9 seconds
  • Top speed: 237 km/h

Prices for the MINI Cooper S Convertible start at RM318,888 on-the-road without insurance here in Malaysia. With the added on BMW extended warranty and service package, the price is increased to RM329,288.

MINI’s extended warranty package includes four years of unlimited mileage warranty coverage, four years/60,000 km service inclusive, and five years of MINI roadside assistance.
