Hot on the heels of the Jetour Dashing launch and the announcement of the Jetour VT9, Malaysians can also expect another SUV from the Chinese marque, the T2, to arrive at our shores very soon.
At the still ongoing Auto Shanghai 2025, we managed to get more information on this SUV and a glimpse of its special editions, the Stargazer Air and Nexus Sentinel.

With better off-roading capabilities than the decidedly more urban Jetour T1 (which will make it here too), urbanites looking for quick weekend escapes into the woods will appreciate the tougher, more traditional off-roader look. Its design keeps the classic proportions of a proper SUV, with a wide horizontal grille taking centre stage, flanked by split LED headlamps and chunky bumper cladding. The whole car looks like a Defender on steroids to our eyes, in a pleasing way.
At 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,875 mm tall, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase, the T2 is one of the broader options in its class. That width, along with decent approach and departure angles and a wading depth of 700 mm, makes it nearly pickup-like when the going gets tough.

Like many SUVs from its homeland, the Jetour T2 comes with a healthy range of powertrain options:
- 1.5-litre turbo PHEV: The plug-in hybrid pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a three-speed DHT gearbox and multiple electric motors, offering a combined output of 375 hp and 610 Nm. A 26.7 kWh battery delivers a claimed 117 km of pure electric range (WLTC cycle) and a low fuel consumption of just 1.08 L/100 km.
- 1.5 or 2.0 turbo petrol: There is a 1.5T model (184 hp and 290 Nm) mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT), or a punchier 2.0T (254 hp and 390 Nm) paired with an eight-speed automatic (8AT). Some variants of the latter will also feature the brand’s XWD all-wheel drive system for added traction when the tarmac ends.

The T2 rides on MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link setup at the rear, tuned for comfort without losing the firmness needed for light off-road work. Four-wheel drive models benefit from the brand’s in-house developed XWD system and an electronic limited-slip differential, along with multiple terrain modes to tackle rain, mud or loose gravel.
The interior of the T2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8155 platform, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. Both Apple CarPlay and Huawei HiCar connectivity are supported, along with OTA updates to keep things fresh.
On the safety front, the T2 comes standard with Level 2 ADAS, covering adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. A 360-degree surround view monitor and automated parking assist system also help make light work of city manoeuvres.

Creature comforts are well accounted for. The cabin features generous soft-touch materials, with electric seat adjustment and heating included. Higher-spec models add a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, keyless entry and a powered tailgate, making every excursion, on- or off-road, almost comparable to the Defender that it bears more than a resemblance to.
As mentioned by Jetour Auto Malaysia earlier this month, the T2 is expected to officially go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2025. Judging by the competitive pricing of the Dashing, this rugged SUV with proper off-roading credentials could give other Chinese SUVs a good run for their money.
