2025 Land Rover Defender V8 launched in Malaysia – Priced from RM998k before duties

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) has launched the 2025 Land Rover Defender V8 in Malaysia, which will join the line-up alongside the existing P400 inline-six and high-performance Octa variants. The V8-powered ‘regular’ Defender is available in either the 110 or the extended, eight-seater 130 body styles. Prices starts at RM998,000 before tax and duties.

  • Land Rover Defender 110 V8 – RM998,000
  • Land Rover Defender 130 V8 – RM1,198,000

The highlight here is – of course – the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, capable of making 525 hp and 652 Nm of torque on the 110. An eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox with a two-speed transfer case delivers power to the wheels, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.4 seconds.

Oddly enough, the larger and heavier Land Rover Defender 130 V8 actually gets a detuned version of the engine, making just 500 hp and 610 Nm of torque. Mind you, that’s still enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 5.7 seconds.

As you’d expect on a Defender, you get a whole array of off-road smarts here, including a Terrain Response system that adapts the drivetrain and suspension to different driving situations.

Unique to the V8 models, however, is an electronic limited-slip rear differential with yaw control, which works with the rear brake-powered torque vectoring to enable “more agile and engaging” handling. There’s also the V8-specific retuned adaptive dampers, stiffer suspension bushes, as well as thicker solid anti-roll bars.

The V8-equipped Land Rover Defenders are distinguished from the non-V8 variants by quad outboard-mounted exhaust pipes, “V8” badges on the front doors, and 22-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

In addition to the standard interior equipment found in all Land Rover Defenders, which includes an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display and interactive driver’s digital gauge cluster, the Defender 110 V8 adds 40:20:40 heated rear seats with a split-folding design and a centre armrest.

The Defender 130 V8, meanwhile, features 60:40 second-row seats with manual slide and recline to expand the cargo area, along with 40:20:40 folding third-row seats for a total capacity for eight passengers.
