Proton eMAS 7 deployed as Northport’s auxiliary police patrol fleet

Pro-Net, the new energy vehicle (NEV) subsidiary of Proton, and Northport (Malaysia) Bhd have announced the deployment of three units of the Proton eMAS 7 for Northport’s auxiliary police patrol fleet.

This announcement marks Northport as the first port operator and company in Malaysia to purchase and operate the Proton eMAS 7 under a fleet arrangement.

Pro-Net CEO, Zhang Qiang stated, “We are honoured to collaborate with Northport, an organisation that leads by example in embracing sustainability.

The Proton eMAS 7 is designed for practical, everyday use, and its deployment within Northport’s operations demonstrates that electric vehicles are not just a vision for the future, but a viable solution for today,” he added.

The deployment of the eMAS 7 at Northport reflects the operator’s commitment to making its daily operations more environmentally friendly. Additionally, being a fully electric vehicle (EV), Proton states the eMAS 7 is able to reduce fatigue for officers during long shifts with quieter operations in the port area.

Furthermore, the national brand emphasised that its fast charging capability allows it to be always on standby when needed, and the efficient EV powertrain helps to cut down fuel costs and emissions while requiring less maintenance due to fewer moving parts.

Northport Chief Executive Officer, Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin stated, “At Northport, we are committed to embracing sustainable practices and clean energy solutions. The Proton eMAS 7 aligns perfectly with our environmental goals and supports our Green Port initiatives and ESG commitments.”

“As a proudly Malaysian port, choosing Proton also reflects our support for local innovation and national industry development. The Proton eMAS 7 offers the right balance of performance, safety and technology, making it ideal for the demanding needs of our port operations,” he added.

The Proton eMAS 7 is launched in two variants – Prime and Premium – with prices starting at RM105,800 for the Prime variant and RM119,800 for the Premium variant.

Both variants of the Proton eMAS 7 are powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque, translating to a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds for the Prime variant and 7.1 seconds for the Premium variant.

Both variants are equipped with Geely’s Aegis short blade battery packs. The Prime variant features a 49.52 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 345 km (WLTP) with charging supported by 11 kW AC and 80 kW DC.

The Premium variant boasts a larger 60.22 kWh battery pack, increasing the range to 410 km (WLTP). Similar to the Prime variant, it supports 11 kW AC charging, but DC charging capability is increased to 100 kW. Despite the different DC charging speeds, both variants require only 20 minutes for a 10-80% charge.

Pro-Net recently announced that the Proton eMAS 7 achieved a cumulative delivery milestone of 1,853 units in Q1 2025, including 797 units sold in March 2025. According to Pro-Net, these figures solidify the eMAS 7’s position as the number one EV model in Malaysia.
