Proton eMAS 7 is Malaysia’s bestselling EV with 30% market share so far this year

Pro-Net, the new energy vehicle (NEV) subsidiary of Proton, today announced that the fully electric (EV) Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) has achieved a new cumulative delivery milestone of 1,853 units in Q1 2025, including 797 units sold in March 2025.

Those numbers translate to a forecasted year-to-date (YTD) market share of 30% for the Proton eMAS 7, a figure Pro-Net states cements the eMAS 7’s position as the number one EV model in Malaysia.

Pro-Net CEO, Zhang Qiang stated, “We want to thank our customers for their unwavering support, and confidence in our Proton eMAS 7 as well as trust that we can deliver an ecosystem that lets them enjoy their electrified driving experience.”

“I also want to thank our dealers and partners for delivering an ecosystem that supports our customers’ requirements. This achievement encourages us to improve ourselves to deliver products of higher quality and give our customers a better ownership experience,” he added.

The Proton eMAS 7 is available in Malaysia in two variants: Prime and Premium. Prices for the first national EV start at RM105,800 for the Prime variant, and RM119,800 for the Premium variant.

Both variants are powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h takes 6.9 seconds on the Prime variant and 7.1 seconds on the Premium variant. Both variants have the same top speed of 175 km/h.

For their batteries, both variants are equipped with the Aegis short blade battery packs sourced from Geely. The Prime variant is equipped with a 49.52 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 345 km (WLTP). Charging is supported with AC charging at 11 kW and DC charging at 80 kW.

The Premium variant is equipped with a larger 60.22 kWh battery pack, which increases the range to 410 km (WLTP). Like the Prime variant, the Premium variant supports 11 kW AC charging, but DC charging is now supported at 100 kW.

Although both variants have different DC charging speeds, they both only need 20 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.

According to Pro-Net, there are currently over 2,300 public EV charging facilities across the country, which can be located by owners via the live integrated charging map accessible from the 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen display of the Proton eMAS 7.

Additionally, the subsidiary states that 75 DC charging points offering 120 kW are available at selected Proton, Proton eMAS, and Smart dealerships.

These public EV chargers can be accessed via the Proton eMAS mobile application, which enables easy payment of charging fees. To date, Pro-Net has recorded a total of 1,145 charging sessions conducted using this application over a period of three months.

Aside from Malaysia, the Proton eMAS 7 has also made its international debut recently. Following the launch of the Proton eMAS 7 in Nepal last month, the subsidiary has announced that the EV SUV will also be launched soon in Trinidad and Tobago.
