Malaysia-bound Zeekr 7X shown at Auto Shanghai 2025 – looks good doesn’t it?


The Zeekr 7X had just been shown at the Auto Shanghai 2025 motor show allowing us to get a clearer picture of what to expect prior to its Malaysian launch later this year.

When it arrives here, the Zeekr 7X mid-size SUV that will be taking on the Tesla Model Y and the BYD Sealion 7. The Zeekr 7X is slightly larger than the Tesla Model Y but is similar in size with the BYD Sealion 7.

The Zeekr 7X is drastically different compared to its Zeekr 9X and Zeekr X SUV brothers as it takes a “Hidden Energy” design approach with a smooth and matured appearance. Both the front and rear feature a singular light bar that resembles the front end of a Ferrari 12Cilindri and the rear end of a Porsche Cayenne.

As specs for the Malaysian model have yet to be confirmed, we will be looking at the Chinese model to get a heads up on what to expect.

Inside, you are greeted by a massive 16-inch infotainment display accompanied by a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8295 chip that will give drivers a smoother experience when navigating through the system.

The Zeekr 7X comes with two battery sizes in China with a 75 kWh battery and a 100 kWh battery along with three variants.

Both battery options come in a single motor RWD guise that puts out 421 hp and 440 Nm. Range for the 75 kWh RWD variant is rated at 605 km (CLTC) while the 100 kWh RWD variant is rated at 780 km (CLTC). The 75 kWh RWD goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds while the heavier 100 kWh RWD takes a slightly longer time of 5.8 seconds for the same sprint.

There is also a dual motor all-wheel drive variant that will only come with the 100 kWh battery option, putting out 646 hp and 710 Nm. Range is rated at 705 km (CLTC) with a 0 to 100 km/h time of a whopping 3.8 seconds.

Peak at the top of the vehicle and you will see a LiDAR sensor mounted above the front windshield. It houses a highly intelligent ADAS system called “Haohan Intelligent Driving 2.0” that is powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips (508 TOPS) said to enable self-driving capabilities to some extent.

Pricing for the Zeekr 7X starts from 229,900 yuan (roughly RM 140k) to 269,900 yuan (roughly RM 160k). That’s slightly cheaper than the Tesla Model Y but more expensive than the BYD Sealion 7 in China. As we all know, Malaysian car prices can vary a lot especially with imported cars so we will have to wait for the Malaysian launch for full details.
