The Volvo XC90 has long been the hallmark of the brand and represents the best of everything the brand has to offer. Just when you thought it can’t be improved, Volvo has proved otherwise.
Starting with the most obvious change, the Volvo XC90 has been given a new face. Signature design elements like the Thor’s Hammer headlights and Volvo Iron Mark logo are here to stay with a new grille and bumper design that give the car a more modern and confident look.
The car sits on 20-inch wheels that can be optioned up to 22-inches and rides on air-suspension that monitors the road’s surfaces and adjusts accordingly to produce maximum comfort for passengers.

The second biggest change lies in the interior with a new 11.2-inch android-based infotainment system that is leaps and bounds more advanced than the outgoing model year. This new system comes with Google built-in allowing for smooth navigation and media controls along with the google assistant.
Two variants are available with the new XC90 – the T8 PHEV, and the B5 Mild Hybrid. The T8 PHEV is fitted with a 2.0-litre turbo four cylinder engine supported with an electric motor that produces 462 hp and 709 Nm combined. Power is delivered to all four wheels and propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. The car’s 19kWh battery allows for an electric only range of up to 77 kilometres.

The B5 Mild Hybrid variant also comes with a 2.0-litre turbo four cylinder engine but this time makes only 249 hp and 350 Nm to all four wheels. With no electrical assistance, it accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds.
Prices for the new Volvo XC90 start from RM 418,888 for the B5 Mild Hybrid and RM434,888 for the T8 PHEV. Do you think the XC90 still stands strong against its newer German rivals?
