Isuzu D-Max sales peaking even with unsubsidised diesel – 2nd best-selling pickup in Q1 2025

Isuzu was happy to report that sales figures for their Isuzu D-Max pickup truck in the first quarter of 2025 have not only increased to make it the second-bestselling pickup truck in Malaysia, but even peaking to its highest-ever market share to date at 18.3%, up from 14% from the same period last year.

The significant increase comes at a time when diesel fuel in general no longer receive subsidies, causing a sharp rise in fuel prices.

What’s perhaps most surprising was the drastic increase in sales in Peninsular Malaysia. While Isuzu continues to hold a healthy market share of 28.4% in Sabah, Peninsular Malaysia saw a significant rise in market share from 12.1% in 2024 to a whopping 17.1% in 2025.

Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Operating Officer, Kenkichi Sogo, said “What we have clearly seen is a growing number of buyers who have discovered the merits of owning and driving an Isuzu D-Max.”

“Not only do they purchase a versatile vehicle that has far-reaching capabilities for their daily use and leisure, the D-Max’s exceptionally low running cost, superior dependability and cheap road tax ensures that customers still come out with a winning hand,” Sogo added.
