Video: The Volvo EX30 is a small EV with big promises

Looking for an EV that upholds a certain image, built to last, and suitable for every urban situation? The Volvo EX30 might just be the answer for you.

Prices for the Volvo EX30 start from RM208,888 for the Ultra variant and RM228,888 for the Ultra Twin Motor Performance variant – making it the most affordable car Volvo Car Malaysia currently offers.

Despite its lower asking price, it certainly doesn’t look like a budget car. The design is undeniably electric whilst staying true to the Volvo aesthetic, looking especially bold with the reimagined Volvo signature “Thor’s Hammer” headlights.

Recycled materials are used for the majority of the interior. The seats may look like regular fabric seats but they are actually made of upcycled denim just like your Levi’s Jeans. Key features in the interior also include the 1040 watt Harman Kardon soundbar and the 12.3-inch touch screen with Google built-in.

The Volvo EX30 Ultra variant features a single motor generating 268 hp and 343 Nm to the rear wheels that brings the car from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.

For the Ultra Twin Motor Performance, as the name suggests, it features dual motors at the front and rear axle that puts out a total of 426 hp and 534 Nm that propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. That makes it faster than a Porsche 911 and the fastest Volvo to date!

So, imagine being able to smoke a sports car off the line at a traffic light, with your kids comfortably tucked into the back seats on a typical Wednesday afternoon — all while being environmentally conscious. It sounds unreal, which is exactly why – we think – the EX30 is the ultimate everyday EV. Watch the full review above!
