Zeekr’s new G-Pilot ADAS uses AI to keep you safe and look for parking spots

Zeekr has unveiled their new G-Pilot advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) earlier this week. Specifically, the presentation by the Chinese carmaker showcases the ADAS system’s top-of-the-line H9 model with L3 autonomous functionality.

In addition to the H9 model, Zeekr also introduced different tiers of the G-Pilot ADAS system for different Zeekr vehicles. As of now, five tiers are offered, which are designated as H1, H3, H5, H7, and finally, H9. Each tier is separated by the level of hardware and complex use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Zeekr’s new G-Pilot ADAS claims to offer many automotive “industry’s first” in intelligent driving. One feature that stands out is the General Automated Evasion System (G-AES), which allows Zeekr vehicles equipped with G-Pilot ADAS to autonomously avoid unexpected obstacles at speeds of up to 80-130 km/h.

Additionally, G-Pilot also has Full-Capacity Vehicle-to-Parking (V2P) intelligent drive functionality. This allows for Zeekr vehicles equipped with the ADAS system to drive and park the vehicle autonomously. This is powered by the AI Smart Parking Roaming functionality, which allows the vehicle to autonomously drive around and search for empty parking spots without human involvement, and is also augmented by the marque’s recently-updated map free urban NZP (Navigation Zeekr Pilot) function.

The first car in Zeekr’s lineup that will be equipped with the G-Pilot H9 hardware will be the Zeekr 9X, which is set to be revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Deliveries of the Zeekr 9X is also expected to begin after the second half of this year.

The Zeekr 9X is built on the brand’s next-generation ZEEA 3.0 electrical and electronic architecture, and it utilises two Nvidia Drive AGX Thor chipsets with computing power rated at 1,400 TOPS.

Aside from new cars, Zeekr also says that functionalities such as G-AES and V2P will also make its way into its existing models via over-the-air (OTA) updates in the coming months – so long as they have the compatible hardware to support it.
