Zeekr’s upcoming three-row SUV will be called the Zeekr 9X, and the “global flagship ultra-luxury SUV” will be offered with the marque’s first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, the Chinese carmaker announced today.
The model – still in camouflage wrapping for now – will make its official debut at the 2025 Shanghai auto show in April, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025, CnEVPost reports.
Initially branded as an EV-only marque, Zeekr announced in August 2024 that it will also be introducing PHEV models in the future, in response to market conditions. Two PHEV models were rumoured, including the 9X, which was previously codenamed DX1E. Another mid-sized SUV model, codenamed EX1E, is also slated for a debut sometime this year.
Not much info were disclosed on the Zeekr 9X’s “Super Hybrid” system just yet, although reports from China claim that it’ll be a slightly revised version of Geely’s NordThor EM-i PHEV powertrain, which the company claims will offer a combined range upwards of 2,390 km.

The Zeekr 9X will also be offered in a “Grand” variant, boasting ultra-luxurious interior appointments similar to that of the Zeekr 009 in China. According to CnEVPost, the Zeekr 9X Grand could be priced in excess of RMB1 million in China (approx. RM608k).
Most of the car is still covered up for now, but based on the teaser images, the Zeekr 9X could feature some bold styling touches like the blocky silhouette, as well as a massive front grille – the latter likely borrowed from the Zeekr 009 too. Other things we can peek from its camouflaged test mule include flush door handles on the sides, as well as a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.
