Proton has announced in a press release today that overseas exports of the Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) have begun, starting with Nepal, Singapore, and Trinidad and Tobago.
In the press release, Proton states that 50 units of the Proton eMAS 7 have been exported to Nepal ahead of its launch. Meanwhile, other countries such as Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago have received a small – but undisclosed – amount of cars.
“The Proton eMAS 7 has proven to be an early success so our challenge now is to keep it in the spotlight while aggressively planning for our other model introductions this year,” said Proton Edar CEO Roslan Abdullah.
In addition to the Proton eMAS 7 finding its home in Nepal, Singapore, and Trinidad and Tobago, other prospective markets for the Malaysian carmaker’s EV include countries such as Mauritius, Brunei, and South Africa, as announced during its launch last year.
It should be noted that the Proton eMAS 7 being exported is currently manufactured and imported from China, despite being shipped to overseas markets from Malaysia. However, that could soon change as Proton has begun work of its new RM82 million EV factory to produce the eMAS 7 locally, with local assembly (CKD) of Proton’s EV to begin by the end of this year.
Here in Malaysia, the Proton eMAS 7 has seen a positive reception with local buyers. So far, there have been over 1,000 successful EV deliveries to owners, in addition to over 4,500 bookings made by prospective buyers who are looking to capitalise on the early bird pricing discount.

Coming in two variants, Prime and Premium, the Proton eMAS 7 is a front-wheel drive (FWD) EV with a single electric motor mounted on the front axle across both variants, producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque.
Despite both variants of the Proton eMAS 7 having the same top speed of 175 km/h, the Prime variant has a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds, and the Premium variant accomplishes a century sprint time of 7.1 seconds, probably due to their battery sizes.

The Proton eMAS 7 uses Geely’s proprietary Aegis Short Blade Battery technology for both Prime and Premium variants. The former has a 49.52 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack rated at 345 km (WLTP) of EV range, whilst the latter has a bigger 60.22 kWh LFP battery pack with 410 km (WLTP) of rated EV range.
On-board AC charging is supported at 11 kW for both the Prime and Premium variants. For DC charging, the Prime variant has 80 kW DC fast charging, and the Premium variant gets a faster 100 kW DC fast charging instead.
