BYD Atto 3 facelift launched in China – comes with a fridge and God’s Eye ADAS system

Alongside the new Dolphin, BYD has also launched the 2025 BYD Atto 3 facelift in China, where it’s known as the BYD Yuan Plus. The updated electric crossover starts at CNY 115,800 (approx. RM70k), which is CNY1,000 cheaper than the pre-facelift model.

According to CarNewsChina, BYD delivered 275,233 Atto 3s in China in 2024, an 11.1% decrease year-on-year. This prompted the updated Atto 3’s launch in response to fierce competition in the Chinese market.

The facelifted BYD Atto 3 features a redesigned exterior with a larger trapeze-shaped air intake, smoked headlights, blackened D-pillars, and a new roof spoiler with dual brake lights.

As for the funky interior of the Atto 3, it has been toned down with two new colour options: beige and grey. The gym-inspired dashboard touches have also been replaced with a more conventional design.

Other interior changes include a column shifter, a redesigned centre console with a 50W wireless charging pad and a refrigerator, a larger 8.8-inch digital gauge cluster for the driver, a 12-inch heads-up display (HUD), an A-pillar-mounted driver monitoring camera, and storage bins under the second row seats.

The most significant change is the addition of BYD’s new God’s Eye advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which is a SAE Level 2 system.

On the BYD Atto 3 facelift, it will be equipped with God’s Eye C, utilising DiPilot 100 hardware. The entry-level system in the new range, featuring 12 cameras, five millimetre-wave radars, a radar unit, and 12 ultrasonic radar sensors.

Powertrain wise, the facelift BYD Atto 3 is propelled by a front-mounted electric motor making 204 hp (150 kW). Two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs are available: 49.9 kWh and 60.5 kWh. These provide a CLTC range of 430 km and 530 km for the latter.

Five variants of the BYD Atto 3 facelift are available in China with prices ranging from CNY115,800 (approx. RM70k) to CNY145,800 (approx. RM89k).

In Malaysia, the BYD Atto 3 – in its pre-facelift form – is currently available in a single variant, priced at RM150,500. It shares the same powertrain as the China-spec Atto 3 but is equipped with a 60.48 kWh BYD Blade battery pack, providing a WLTP range of 420 km.

A recent teaser by BYD Malaysia suggests that an update to the BYD Atto 3 is due soon, but it won’t be the facelift version seen here.
