Audi has unveiled the next-generation Audi A6 Avant, and it’s a looker. Don’t worry about figuring out if it’s the fully-electric (EV) or petrol-powered one, because Audi has done a U-turn on their naming strategy and ditched the confusing odd and even numbers to differentiate the powertrains.
Exterior-wise, the Audi A6 Avant looks completely different from its EV sibling, the Audi A6 e-tron. The A6 Avant features bigger headlights, which are matrix LEDs, and a more aggressive front grille design with large air intakes on both sides.

Towards the rear, the all-new A6 Avant sports a taillight design that bears a resemblance to those on the Audi e-tron, with a full-width lightbar. Audi says the taillights on the Audi A6 Avant are based on an OLED panel, which consists of 396 individual OLED segments for each taillight.
The inside of the A6 Avant is a heaven for tech geeks, boasting a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen display and an 11.9-inch digital gauge cluster for the driver. The company also offers a 10.9-inch touchscreen display for the front passenger.

Other interior amenities include an adjustable panoramic sunroof, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and an optional four-zone automatic climate control.
The next-generation Audi Avant is available with three powertrains, these include:
- 2.0-litre TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder delivering 204 hp and 340Nm in front-wheel-drive (FWD)
- 2.0-litre TDI turbodiesel four-cylinder delivering 204 hp and 400Nm with 48-volt mild hybrid. Available in FWD or Quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD)
- 3.0-litre TFSI turbocharged V6 delivering 367 hp and 550Nm with 48-volt mild hybrid. Available in AWD.
All three powertrain configurations are paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This translates to a 0-100 km/h sprint of 8.2 seconds for the petrol 2.0-litre and a quicker 4.7 seconds for the V6 variant.
According to Audi, the 48-volt mild hybrid system, dubbed the MHEV Plus system, consists of three main components: a 48-volt battery, the belt alternator starter (BAS), and the powertrain generator (PTG) with integrated power electronics.

The PTG enables fully electric parking and manoeuvring, allowing the A6 Avant to run on pure EV power in low speeds. When needed, the PTG can produce additional torque up to 230Nm and up to 24 hp (18 kW) when starting off or overtaking. When decelerating, the PTG can recover up to 25 kW of energy.
Available as an option, the Audi A6 Avant can also be equipped with all-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension, the latter of which regulates body height and shock absorption. There’s also a quattro sport differential which Audi says “ensures even greater agility.”
The rear-wheel steering on the Audi A6 Avant allows the rear wheels to turn up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels at low speeds, reducing the turning circle by one meter. At medium and higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction, enabling stable and even more precise handling.
The all-new Audi A6 Avant is priced at EUR58,000 (approx. RM274k) for the petrol 2.0-litre variant, and the turbodiesel variant is priced at EUR61,700 (approx. RM291k). The first vehicles will be delivered to European customers by the end of May 2025.
