The 2025 Proton X50 facelift is expected to be one of three new models launched by the national carmaker this year. Sightings of the facelifted SUV wrapped in heavy camouflage possibly undergoing testing has been increasing exponentially, suggesting an imminent launch.
Today marks another sighting on the road, and as you might have previously seen, it sports a more outlandish spoiler at the back that is even more aggressive than the ones currently on the Flagship variant.
Based on everything that we’ve seen so far, it’s clear that the 2025 Proton X50 facelift will be based on the Geely Binyue L as opposed to the current one that takes after the Binyue Cool. The most obvious giveaway is the full-width lower grille.
Other spy shots of the model recently have also revealed another variant of the upcoming X50, without the large rear wing at the back, but still with an ADAS camera up ahead, indicating that the technology might trickle down to the mid-level and entry-level variants as well with the facelift.

Perhaps the biggest change would come in the form of Geely’s new four-cylinder turbocharged engine that has been rumoured to make its way onto the new 2025 Proton X50 facelift. The new engine makes 180 hp and 290 Nm of torque with a seven-speed wet twin-clutch gearbox linking it to the front wheels. Currently, the X50’s three-cylinder engine delivers 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque.
Apart from the full-width grille, the refresh should see the X50 get cosmetic updates that include sportier 18-inch turbine-style wheels as seen here. Based on the Binyue L, the interior also doesn’t lose out on the refresh, revised climate control switchgear, a new centre console and a thinner gear selector.
Lastly, the refreshed X50 should be updated with the latest Flyme Auto infotainment system. First seen on the eMAS 7, the system in the EV operates on an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen.
Expect more details of the X50 to trickle out as the facelifted SUV gets closer to a launch.
