XPeng will be releasing the new 2025 XPeng G7 electric vehicle (EV) SUV this year. Aside from a handful of official photos, we’ve now obtained initial technical information of the new EV through regulatory filings from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Technology (CMIIT).
According to the CMIIT’s filings, the 2025 XPeng G7 will be the Chinese carmaker’s longest EV SUV yet, being only just a hair longer (by 1 mm!) than the XPeng G9, but having a shorter wheelbase and narrower width than its elder brother. The additional length suggest that the Xpeng G7 might be the Chinese marque’s first seven-seater SUV.
From the CMIIT filings, the 2025 XPeng G7 has been listed in two catalog pages, suggesting that there will be two different ‘variants’ of the EV SUV. The regulatory filings show that both ‘variants’ will have lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs supplied by CALB, which will power the 292 hp (218 kW) electric motor produced by Xpeng’s Wuhan division that is capable of 202 km/h.
The two variants seem to have two different curb weights each, too. The first ‘variant’ being listed as 2,085 kg and 2,100 kg, while the second having 2,145 kg and 2,160 kg. This may suggest that there are two different battery capacities for both cars each. Additionally, both offer the choice of 18-inch or 20-inch wheels.
Information from the CMIIT also confirms that XPeng is going for the same pricing strategy used for the Mona M03 and P7+, i.e. competitively priced. Obviously, pricing for the 2025 XPeng G7 is not available yet yet, but Chinese reports suggest the SUV EV will be priced competitively between RMB200,000 (approx. RM123k) to RMB250,000 (approx. RM153k).
To keep costs low, XPeng is implementing its new Hawk AI system in the XPeng G7 in favour of equipping cars with Lidar instead.
There is also no fixed date for the official release of the XPeng G7 yet, but it will most likely begin sometime in the first half of 2025.
