Unlike other electric vehicles (EV) where electric motors are blessed with immediate takeoff in straight line speeds, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N DK Edition flips it on its head and goes against convention.
Unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, Hyundai Motor Company partnered with none other than the legendary Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya to create a special edition Hyundai Ioniq 5 N to do one thing only: enter and exit corners at high speeds – and preferably, sideways. The DK in the name stands for Drift King, naturally.
Starting with things that hasn’t changed from the Ioniq 5 N it’s based on, the new DK Edition is still all-wheel-drive with dual electric motors producing 641 hp (448 kW) and a monstrous 770 Nm of torque to all wheels, the latter with the N Grin Boost feature. The 84 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack with a 561 km (WLTC) range and 350 kW DC fast charging is also the same as before.
While power hasn’t changed, handling has. Together with Autobacs Seven, Hyundai N has developed a special performance parts package for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N DK Edition underneath the expertise of the legendary Japanese racer, Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya.

The first thing you’ll notice is the wide 21-inch forged aluminium wheels for added grip on the road – while also reducing weight by 11 kg. The extra rubber is complemented by a new six-piston brake set with a 54% increase in pad area for improved stopping power.
New lowering springs made for the Ioniq 5 N’s electronically-controlled suspension system lowers the car by some 15 mm, improving handling in corners with a lower centre of gravity.
Zooming out some more, we can see the exterior differences of the DK Edition and the regular Ioniq 5 N. Carbon fibre parts garnish the diffuser, side skirts, while a high-visibility front splitter completes the look of the juiced-up EV “drift car”, matched by the carbon fibre rear wing for extra downforce.
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N DK Edition will go on sale first in Japan and Korea. Plans for a global release to the world are still being considered by the Korean carmaker.
