Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is no stranger to teasers – but it seems this time, it’s something a little more… substantial. In a new shadowy photo published on its social media pages, the company is now teasing what appears to be the new 2024 Mitsubishi Xpander facelift, with the accompanying caption, “Something exciting is coming your way – stay tuned!”, hinting at an imminent launch here in Malaysia for the new MPV model.
EDIT 1:15pm: MMM has since announced that the new 2024 Mitsubishi Xpander is now open for booking, shortly after the original story was published. Learn more here.
Not much is available to see in the darkened photo, but the design of the grille does resemble that of the Mitsubishi Xpander facelift model that was first unveiled in Thailand back in 2022.
No specific details have been disclosed by MMM so far, but if we had to guess, chances are we won’t be getting the hybrid version that was launched in Thailand earlier this year. Instead, we’ll be soldiering on with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated inline-four mill as found on the pre-facelift model, with 103 hp and 141 Nm of torque on offer.
In the Land of Smiles, the engine is now paired to a new CVT gearbox, which would be a considerable upgrade to the ageing four-speed auto found on our car. That said, that’s no guarantee that we’ll also be getting it here, since the our local Mitsubishi Xpander is locally assembled right here in Malaysia. We’re certainly hoping, though!

Otherwise, we’re expecting a range of equipment upgrades on the 2024 Mitsubishi Xpander facelift here in Malaysia, including things like a larger infotainment display, a new digital climate control panel, an electronic parking brake, and a new Qi wireless charging pad.
No firm launch date has been announced yet, but since the company has already started teasing, it shouldn’t be too much longer until the new 2024 Mitsubishi Xpander facelift makes its official debut here in Malaysia. As usual, stay tuned to AutoBuzz.my for the latest info!
