MG Cyberster EV roadster teased on brand’s Malaysian site, launching 2024?

Just ahead of MG’s official re-entry into the Malaysia market sometime within the first quarter of 2024, the company has teased its MG Cyberster on its site. Logging onto MG Malaysia’s website, you may not immediately see the MG Cyberster at the top of the page. But upon scrolling to the bottom of the page, you will find the Cyberster smiling at you with its large grille in the shadows.

What is the MG Cyberster you may ask? The MG Cyberster is the British carmaker’s 2-door all-electric convertible roadster. Thus far, the Cyberster has been showcased in several countries across the ASEAN region, including Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.

MG Cyberster previewed at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2023

The model that was previewed at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2023 is equipped with a dual-motor setup that sends 544 hp and 725 Nm to all four wheels. This allows the all-electric roadster is also fitted with a 77 kWh battery pack, which allows it to travel as far as 570 km (CLTC) on a single charge.

Fitted with a pair of cool-looking scissor doors, the MG Cyberster also come with unique-looking LED rearlights. Aiding with the car’s ride and handling is the independent double-wishbone front suspension and a multilink rear suspension.

Despite being teased on MG Malaysia’s website already, don’t keep your hopes too high just yet. It would make total financial sense for the Chinese-state-owned British marque to bring in its more pedestrian models such as the MG 4 and ZS EV into Malaysia first, before finally introducing its more enticing all-electric roadster.

What do you think of the MG Cyberster? Would you give the all-electric roadster a chance if it does make its way to Malaysian shores?
