The new Volvo EX40 and EC40 all-electric SUVs have made their way to Thailand. The upgrades these new models have received are practically similar to the 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge launched in Malaysia earlier this year but have gotten new names following Volvo’s global renaming exercise for the SUV twins. Both the Volvo EX40 and EC40 are offered with three variants each and are priced between THB1.99 million (approx. RM257,887) and THB 2.79 million (approx. RM361,560).
On the outside, the new Volvo EX40 and EC40 in Thailand, like the Malaysian market 2024 Volvo C40 have received the brand’s new LED Pixel Technology headlights. And as expected, new EX40 and EC40 badges have been slapped onto their backs as well.

Also new for Thailand are the new Black Edition variants for the new Volvo EX40 and EX40. As its name suggests, the Black Edition model comes with Onyx Black exterior paint, a black front grille, black 20-inch alloys, black Volvo and model badges, and a Charcoal Black interior.
Two powertrain options are available with the Volvo EX40 and EC40 in Thailand, namely a rear-mounted single-motor setup and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. The former puts out 238 hp (metric) and 420 Nm, while the latter provides 408 hp (metric) and 670 Nm.

One of the main highlights of the new Volvo SUVs has to be the larger battery packs. The Ultra Single Motor variant gets a 69 kWh battery pack which gives it an NEDC-rated range of 590 km. The Twin Motor variants sport a larger 82 kWh unit, making it possible for an NEDC-rated range of 650 km.
Inside, the Thai-spec Volvo EX40 and EC40 come with kits such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display which runs on the Android Automotive OS. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are included too.

Safety-wise, the Volvo EX40 and EC40 are equipped with the Swedish carmaker’s active safety systems suite including Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Avoidance & Mitigation Support, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and so on. The Park Assist Pilot automatic parking assistance system and a 360° surround-view camera system are also included.
