Schneider Electric’s EVlink Pro DC charging hub launched at Plaza 33 PJ – up to 180kW, RM1.60/kWh

Schneider Electric has launched its new EVlink Pro DC charging hub, a 180 kW Direct Current (DC) fast charger located at Plaza 33 in Petaling Jaya. The new charging hub is also the brand’s first public electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Petaling Jaya.

A total of two DC charging bays are available at the facility. Just in case you are not in a rush to charge your EV, two AC charging bays are offered as well. The Schneider Electric EVlink Pro DC features scalable power options ranging from 120 kW to 150 kW, and 180 kW. This allows for simultaneous charging of two vehicles to optimise power usage efficiency. The AC chargers on the other hand can offer up to 22 kW of charging speeds.

As for the charging fee, the 180 kW DC chargers will cost RM1.60/kWh, while the 22 kW AC chargers will cost RM1.00/kWh. There is also a RM20/hour idle fee.

The charging hub also integrates with the EcoStruxure EV Charging Expert, a load management system to allocate energy from the building to the EV charging stations in real-time. This ensures maximum efficiency while also enhancing uptime and dynamically regulating charger outputs, addressing any concerns about overloading for EV owners.

Compliant with the IEC62443-4-1 ML4 standard, the EVlink Pro DC prioritises the safety, availability, integrity, and confidentiality of components or systems used in industrial automation and control. This standard is essential for both end users and equipment vendors to ensure information security.

The charger is also equipped with built-in future-ready technology, including ISO15118 Plug and Charge and Smart Charging readiness. This helps simplify the upgrades and modernisation efforts as well as ensuring that the infrastructure remains innovative and up to date.

Specifically, the Schneider Electric EVlink Pro DC charging hub is located at Plaza 33, at the junction of Jalan Kemajuan and Jalan Semangat in Petaling Jaya. The facility will be operated by the brand’s partner, JusEV, a local charging network operator specialising in electrical vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) for home, public and commercial segments.

Schneider Electric and JusEV also agreed to install over 100 EV chargers, with 10% being DC fast chargers, in both private and commercial buildings by 2024. The two firms have also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to ink this partnership and commitment.

In addition to the newly launched EVlink Pro DC chargers, Schneider Electric offers a diverse range of alternating current (AC) chargers designed for various environments. For instance, its EVlink Parking can cater to a variety of parking settings, including offices, hotels, supermarkets, and municipal fleets. The EVlink Smart Wallbox can be deployed in semi-public parking facilities and corporate EV fleets.

Schneider Electric Country President for Malaysia, Eugene Quah said, “With almost 90% of EV charging anticipated in buildings, the launch of our first public EV charging hub, together with our partner JusEV represents a step towards the development of sustainable transportation infrastructure within Petaling Jaya. At Schneider Electric, we are committed to contributing to the decarbonisation efforts of Malaysia’s mobility sector. Our commitment lies in facilitating the widespread adoption of EVs through accessible and efficient charging solutions.”

“We are confident that this strategic endeavour is in alignment with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which aims to establish 10,000 EV charging points nationwide by 2025,” Quah added.

Plaza 33 General Manager, Tan Kok Leong said, “The collaboration between Schneider Electric and JusEV aligns with our commitment to staying ahead of the curve in meeting the evolving needs of our tenants and customers. We recognise the increasing demand for EVs and aim to provide convenient and sustainable solutions that support the transition to cleaner transportation options. JusEV Charging Network Managing Director, Jason Wong said, “We are pleased to be partnering with Schneider Electric, marking a significant milestone in our mission to drive growth within the EV industry. As the first approved EVLink Installer for Schneider Electric, we are honoured to pioneer this collaboration in driving the adoption rate of EVs in Malaysia. By synergising our expertise and resources, we aim to create a more conducive environment for individuals and businesses to transition towards sustainable transportation solutions.”
