Now you can pay for EV charging directly with credit cards at selected Shell Recharge stations!

Shell Malaysia and ParkEasy have partnered with Visa in a joint effort to enable contactless card payments at selected Shell Recharge charging stations in Klang Valley. This new method of payment allows electric vehicle (EV) owners to have a more convenient and seamless EV charging experience.

The new contactless payment card terminals are now available at four charging stations in the region, namely at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, and Pavilion Damansara Heights, covering both AC and DC chargers.

Contactless payment at Shell Recharge terminals is simple. Just park at your desired charging bay and select the bay number on the card terminal. Contactless payment is made by tapping their credit or debit card on the reader, and a preauthorisation amount of RM150 is applied for the session paid via the terminal.

To celebrate the launch, customers using their Visa cards at these Shell Recharge stations from 15 January 2025 until 30 June 2025 will receive a 10% cashback (capped at RM5 per charging session). Additionally, ParkEasy app users will also receive a 10% rebate when they top up their ParkEasy account using their Visa card (50 credits minimum, capped at five credits per transaction).

Shell Mobility Malaysia General Manager, Seow Lee Ming, says that the collaboration between Shell Malaysia and Visa is a significant step towards EV charging convenience for EV users. “By enabling Visa card payments at our Shell Recharge sites and giving attractive rebates for top-ups with a Visa card, we are making it easier for customers to access and pay for charging services, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable experience,” she added.

Visa Asia Pacific Head of Global Acquirers, Previn Pillay, comments that Visa is committed to exploring new use cases for contactless payments, such as EV charging. “Malaysia is one of the highest penetrated contactless markets, with over 9 in 10 Visa face-to-face transactions being contactless payments. We are excited to bring this convenience to EV users and making their charging experience seamless and rewarding,” Pillay said.
