2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4Matic facelift launched in Malaysia – 14 hp more power, RM528K

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has just unveiled the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE facelift here on our shores, which will be offered in a single GLE450 4Matic guise, priced at RM528,888 on-the-road, without insurance – a slight RM13k bump in price compared to its predecessor’s latest available pricing information.

Locally assembled in Malaysia in MBM’s assembly plant in Pekan, Pahang, the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4Matic sports several new design touches to set it apart from the outgoing model, including new light signatures for both the head- and taillights, revised bumper design, and a new diamond pin front grille – the latter two courtesy of the AMG Line exterior package that comes as standard on the GLE in Malaysia.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4Matic’s AMG Line kit also include the 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels paired with larger brake discs, as well as the side sill panels and wheel arch claddings in your selected body colour. Speaking of which, the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4Matic is now available in Malaysia in four exterior hues: Obsidian Black, Selenite Grey, High-tech Silver, and the new “highlight paint” Manufaktur Diamond White Bright available as an extra-cost option.

Inside, the new 2024 model gains the marque’s latest-generation steering wheel featuring touchpads on its multi-spoke design, wrapped in Nappa leather. The MBUX system on the twin 12.3-inch displays have also been updated, bringing about new features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as standard. Fortunately, the physical buttons on the dashboard and centre console have all been retained.

The rest of the cabin is wrapped in Artico faux-leather and microfibre combo upholstery, paired to the Anthracite open-pore oak wood trim on the dashboard, centre console, and door cards. For a more executive-like look inspired by the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, the air vents now get a chrome look courtesy of galvanised metal on the slats. A 590W 13-speaker Burmester surround sound system – with Dolby Atmos support – also comes as standard.

As part of the software upgrades, the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4Matic now comes equipped with the MBUX Navigation Premium mapping system with an augmented-reality display, alongside the new Driving Assistance Package Plus that now adds Active Steering Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, and PRE-SAFE Impulse Side pre-collision system to the SUV.

The parking assistance system on the new 2024 GLE450 has also been upgraded, with the Parking System Generation 5.0 package now reintroducing the perpendicular parking functionality to the Active Parking Assistant system.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4Matic continues to feature the same 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six mild-hybrid powertrain as before, but the petrol mill’s outputs have now been raised by 14 hp to now 381 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Power is still sent to all four wheels via a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic gearbox, and the Marque’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

Together with the additional 20 hp and 200 Nm temporary boost under heavy acceleration courtesy of the 48V Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) system, the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4Matic now completes the century sprint in 5.6 seconds (previously 5.7 sec), onward to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.

As before, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4Matic rides on the Airmatic air suspension system, with adjustable dampers configured through the Dynamic Select dial on the centre console.
