MINI Aceman compact SUV EV to make official debut at Beijing Auto Show 2024

After a drawn-out teaser cycle, the MINI Aceman is now finally ready to make its first appearance at the upcoming 2024 Beijing Auto Show (Auto China 2024), taking place from April 25 to May 4. And as a last routine before its grand debut, MINI is treating us to a fresh set of “spy shots” of the camouflaged car on the move. Of course, the car has already been leaked in full before this…

First previewed by the Concept Aceman back in 2022, the upcoming MINI Aceman will be the de-facto successor to the now-defunct Clubman model, and will sit in between the Cooper and Countryman in MINI’s revamped model line-up. Taking the guise of a fully-electric crossover, the Aceman will be made in China through Spotlight Automotive, a joint venture between MINI and Great Wall Motor.

The company is – as you’d expect – not providing much in terms of actual details before its official launch. But based on information obtained via China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) last month, we do know that it’ll be offered in at least two variants, namely the Aceman and Aceman S.

The former will be powered by a 40 kWh NMC battery pack, sending up to 184 hp and 290 Nm to the front wheels via a single electric motor on the front wheels. Electric range is rated at 300 km for the regular Aceman, though we’re not quite sure which test cycle they’re using to measure that.

As for the MINI Aceman S, it’ll get a larger 54.2 kWh battery pack for a longer range at 400 km. Outputs have also been raised to 218 hp and 329 Nm, with power still sent solely to the front wheels.

Aside from the Aceman, MINI will also be showcasing the all-new MINI Cooper and Countryman JCW at the auto show next week – the former in both the E and SE guises.
