Leaked: MINI Aceman EV revealed ahead of Beijing Motor Show debut

The MINI Aceman is the British carmaker’s upcoming all-electric SUV set to be positioned between the MINI Cooper hatchback and the Countryman SUV. Prior to its scheduled official debut on April 24 at the Beijing Motor Show, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released patent images of the car.

Looking at its exterior, the MINI Aceman looks like a shrunken MINI Countryman and MINI 5-door hatchback mashed together. To fit its SUV/crossover identity, the Aceman features some rugged-themed design bits, giving it an outdoorsy vibe.

Two variants will be offered with the MINI Aceman, namely the Aceman and the Aceman S. According to MINI, the Aceman measures 4,076 mm long, 1,754 mm wide (without mirrors), 1,515 mm tall, and is underpinned by a 2,606 mm long wheelbase.

The Aceman S shares the same dimensions as its younger sibling, albeit slightly longer at 4,094 mm. This makes the MINI Aceman smaller than both the Volvo EX30 and the Smart #1.

According to information shared by China’s MIIT, the MINI Aceman will be available with at least five colour options. This includes Legend Grey, Nanuq White, Smokey Green, Blazing Blue, and Melting Silver III. Multiple roof colour options will be offered as well.

Supplying power to the MINI Aceman and MINI Aceman S will be 40 kWh and 54.2 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery packs respectively. This results in the regular Aceman being able to travel up to 300 km on a single charge, while the Aceman S will be able to carry you as far as 400 km.

Output-wise, the regular Aceman will push out 184 metric hp (135 kW), enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The more powerful Aceman S will be capable of producing 218 metric hp (160 kW), allowing it to perform the century sprint in just 6.7 seconds.

As mentioned above, the MINI Aceman is set to make its global debut on April 24 at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show. Its main rivals will include the likes of the Smart #1 and the Volvo EX30.
