All-new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman debuts – 2.0L turbo, 300hp, 400Nm

Following the debut of the all-new MINI Countryman, MINI has now unveiled its sports version, the all-new MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman. Like its predecessors, the JCW Countryman is easily distinguishable from its ‘normal’ counterparts by its colour scheme.

You’ve already seen the all-new MINI Countryman and it is an interesting design to say the least, thanks to the new polygon headlights, new taillight design, and overall angular look. The John Cooper Works Countryman introduces more flair to the exterior.

Separating the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman from the regular Countryman are aerodynamic elements with vertical reflectors, JCW Signature Mode for the horizontal bars in the headlights, a high-gloss black octagonal grille, the new 3-colour JCW logo, and special wheels. Completing the look of the JCW Countryman is a high-contrast exterior design. And just in case you were wondering, the JCW Countryman reportedly has a drag coefficient of 0.26.

Powering the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petroleum gasoline engine that churns out a maximum power of 300 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), the drive system sends power to all 4 wheels and enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.4 seconds.

MINI says that adjustments have been made to the 2.0-litre turbocharged mill, and this includes optimized connecting rods, optimized engine mounts, and optimized pistons to extract the most amount of power from the four-banger. The company also says that the air intake has been de-throttled to enable beefier performance.

JCW-special interior equipment includes a red and black colour scheme that can be seen on the dashboard, along the door panels, and the seats. Speaking of its seats the JCW Countryman comes equipped with high-grade JCW Sports Seats. All else, it is pretty much identical to its regular counterparts with a vertically-themed interior.

In the safety department, the Mini John Cooper Works Countryman is equipped with 12 ultrasonic sensors, 4 surround view cameras, and a partially-automated Level 2 driving (in comprehensive Driving Assistant Professional optional package). The autonomous system enables drivers to take their hands of the steering wheel on highway-like roads at speeds of up to 60 km/h.
