Proton sold 39,150 cars in Q1 2024, exports up 63% from last year



Proton has sold a total of 12,666 cars, both in the domestic and export markets, in March this year. This contributes to the brand’s total sales of 39,150 units for Q1 2024. Its export sales have also grown by 63% over the same period last year.

As compared to Proton’s sales numbers in Q1 2023, the carmaker has sold 2.8% (1137 units) fewer cars in the same period this year. While the first two months saw a 3% growth for Proton, the number now is more reflective of the MAA projection.

Of the 12,666 units Proton sold in March, 5,906 units were contributed by the Saga, including 93 units from the export market. This resulted in 19,247 units of sales in Q1 this year for the Saga, marking its best Q1 sales numbers ever in 12 years.

Following behind in Proton’s number two spot is the S70, which recorded 2,072 units of sales in March, including 35 units from the export market. Thus far, 5,828 units of the brand’s “C-segment” sedan have left its showroom floors throughout Q1 2024.

Proton’s other sedan model, the Persona marked 1,665 units of sales in March, and 5,370 units in Q1 2024. The X50 has 1,626 units sold in March, summing up to 5,444 units in Q1 2024.

The Proton X70 on the other hand recorded 603 units of sales in March (1,420 units in Q1), while 326 units of the X90 were sold in March (1,065 units in Q1). Last but not least is the brand’s B-segment hatchback, the Proton Iriz which recorded 468 units leaving showroom floors in March (1,534 units in Q1).

The Proton Exora has been discontinued and has no longer been sold since March. However, it still managed to garner 242 units of sales in the first two months of this year.
