2024 MG ZS EV launched in Malaysia, RM126k – BYD Atto 3 rival with up to 320km range

SAIC Motor Malaysia has launched the MG ZS EV in the country alongside the MG4 EV hatchback. Offered in a sole variant only, the ZS EV is priced at RM125,999 and competes with the likes of the BYD Atto 3 and the Chery Omoda E5.

In terms of its dimensions, the MG ZS EV measures 4,323 mm long, 1,809 mm wide, and 1,649 mm tall, and features a 2,585 mm long wheelbase. This makes it slightly smaller than both the Atto 3 and Omoda E5.

Exterior-wise, the MG ZS EV in Malaysia comes with standard equipment such as projector LED headlights, and LED taillights, and features a closed-off front panel for an obvious “EV” appearance. It is offered with four exterior colour options, which are Black Pearl, Monument Silver, Artic White, and Dynamic Red.

Powering the MG ZS EV in Malaysia is a front-mounted single electric motor setup that pushes out 176 metric hp (130 kW) and 280 Nm, resulting in a century sprint time of 8.0 seconds. The all-electric SUV comes with three driving modes, namely Eco, Normal, and Sport, along with three regenerative braking levels.

Inside, the MG ZS EV in Malaysia is fitted with features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and a 7-inch digital instrument display. A Panoramic sunroof and a wireless mobile phone charging pad are also included here.

On the safety side of things, the MG ZS EV in Malaysia is equipped with a list of active safety features. This consists of features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

Included with the MG ZS EV’s price tag is a 7-year/150,000 km comprehensive warranty package. Also thrown in is an 8-year/180,000 km high voltage battery warranty. Customers who register their MG ZS EV before April 30, 2024, will get a complimentary 7 kW charger with installation included, worth RM4,600.

SAIC Motor Malaysia has also introduced the MG Insurance Program (MIP). Partnering with industry-leading insurers Berjaya Sompo Insurance, Allianz Malaysia and Generali Malaysia, MG owners will receive additional EV protection:

Unlimited Towing Cost Coverage: the EV will be towed to the nearest charging point operator should it run out of battery during your journey.
Home Wallbox Charger Coverage: up to RM 10,000 reimbursement should the wallbox Charger be stolen, or damaged by external factors.
Additionally with Allianz Malaysia under the Allianz EV Shield program, should the EV catch fire caused by the wallbox charger, EVSE charging cable or public charging station, customers will be compensated with up to RM 5,000 on top of the usual vehicle insurance coverage
