2024 MG MG4 EV launched in Malaysia, from RM104k – up to 520km range, 4 variants

The MG MG4 EV has finally made its launch in Malaysia. Offered in four variants, prices for the all-electric hatchback start from RM103,999.

Size-wise, the MG4 measures 4,287 mm in length, 1,836 mm in width, 1,504 mm in height, and is underpinned by a 2,705 mm long wheelbase. This makes it slightly larger than the BYD Dolphin and is about the same size as the Volkswagen Golf.

On the outside, the MG4 EV in Malaysia is kitted as standard with features such as automatic projector LED headlights, an LED taillight bar that extends across the rear of the car, a body kit, and a rear spoiler. In terms of exterior options, the MG4 EV is available in Volcano Orange, Holborn Blue, Dynamic Red, Arctic White, Camden Grey, Black Pearl, and Monument Silver. The XPower variant also comes with an exclusive matte option of Racing Green.

Powering the MG4 EV Standard, Lux, and Lux Extended Range in Malaysia is a rear-mounted single electric motor setup. The more powerful XPower variant is fitted with an additional electric motor up front.

Moving inside, the MG4 EV is fitted as standard with equipment such as a 7-inch digital instrument display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Also thrown in here is an automatic climate control, a rotary gear selector, and a one-touch driver window switch.

On the safety side of things, the MG4 EV is equipped with a list of active safety features as standard, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA). Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and High Beam Assist (HBA) are also included out of the factory.

Included with the MG4 EV’s price tag is a 7-year/150,000 km mileage vehicle warranty. Also thrown in is an 8-year/180,000 km battery warranty. SAIC Motor Malaysia is also offering a one-to-one battery exchange should the battery’s state of health dip below 70% during the battery’s warranty coverage period.

Customers who register their MG vehicles before April 30, 2024, will get the following complimentary packages :

SAIC Motor Malaysia has also introduced the MG Insurance Program (MIP). Partnering with industry-leading insurers Berjaya Sompo Insurance, Allianz Malaysia and Generali Malaysia, MG owners will receive additional EV protection:

Unlimited Towing Cost Coverage: the EV will be towed to the nearest charging point operator should it run out of battery during your journey.
Home Wallbox Charger Coverage: up to RM 10,000 reimbursement should the wallbox Charger be stolen, or damaged by external factors.
Additionally with Allianz Malaysia under the Allianz EV Shield program, should the EV catch fire caused by the wallbox charger, EVSE charging cable or public charging station, customers will be compensated with up to RM 5,000 on top of the usual vehicle insurance coverage
