Proton opens in-house tinting centre at Tanjung Malim – up to 5,000 installations per month

Window tinting is basically a necessity for any car buyer here in Malaysia, for both heat and security reasons. So to save its customers one extra step when buying their cars, Proton has now opened its own Tint Centre at the Tanjung Malim manufacturing plant to offer in-house window tinting services for its cars.

The national carmaker says that the new facility is capable of fitting tints for up to 5,000 vehicles per month.

Proton already offers security tinting as a standard-fit accessory for certain models in their line-up, namely the Proton X90 (Flagship and Premium) and more recently, the Proton S70 (Flagship and Flagship X). These cars will still continue to come with security tinting as standard, but with the new Tint Centre, Proton says the factory-fitted option will be expanded to other models “in the near future”.

The company highlights the advantages to having tints fitted by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), as opposed to being installed after the vehicle has been delivered, such as a better precision fit using pre-cut dies, stringent quality assurance measures, compliance to JPJ regulations, as well as the elimination of “secondary defects” commonly associated with aftermarket installations.

In addition, all tinting services done by Proton’s in-house tint centre will also be covered by a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

“The launch of our new tint centre in Tanjung Malim is a significant step towards Proton’s commitment to delivering quality products and more value to our customers,” said Proton Edar Chief Executive Officer, Roslan Abdullah.

“By taking responsibility for the fitment process, we have better quality control and can offer better peace of mind. With a current built-in capacity of 5,000 vehicles per month, the tint centre is also prepared to take on any short-term increase in volume as more models in Proton’s range are offered with tinting as a standard fit accessory.”
