Peugeot E-5008 debuts, 7-seater EV SUV with up to 660km of range

Peugeot has just debuted its all-new all-electric 7-seater SUV, the Peugeot E-5008. Built on the brand’s STLA Medium platform, in an extended configuration as compared to the E-3008 EV SUV, the all-new Peugeot E-5008 comes in two versions, the Allure and the GT.

On the outside, Peugeot has gone with the theme of simplicity when designing the all-new E-5008. For instance, the decorative inserts on the car’s body have been reduced, while chrome parts have been banished. For an exchange, the front spoiler and rear bumper of the E-5008 are now coloured in Meteor Grey, while its mirror housings and lower part of the beltline are finished in Orbital Black.

The all-new Peugeot E-5008 also come with a body-coloured front grille, along with a new light signature. Ultra-compact projector LED headlights are included with the E-5008 as standard, while the higher-end GT variant comes with Peugeot’s new Pixel LED technology. This technology allows the headlights to automatically adapt to traffic conditions, maintaining optimal lighting without disturbing other road users. Wheel-wise, the Peugeot E-5008 Allure gets a set of 19-inch alloys, while the GT variant gets larger 20-inch units.

In the performance department, the Peugeot E-5008 comes with three all-electric powertrain options. This includes two single-motor setups, with the standard range version producing 210 hp and 345 Nm, and the long range version producing 230 hp and 345 Nm. There is also a more powerful dual-motor all-wheel drive variant that puts out 320 hp. Peugeot says the E-5008 can travel as far as 660 km of range on a single charge.

Charging-wise, the all-new Peugeot E-5008 is equipped with an 11 kW three-phase AC charger as standard, with a 22 kW three-phase AC charger available as an option. As for DC charging, the E-5008 can be charged at a maximum rate of 160 kW, which can juice the car up from 20 to 80% in 30 minutes, or return the car with 100 km of range in just 10 minutes.

Despite being “BEV-by-design”, like the all-new 3008, the all-new Peugeot 5008 is also available with two electrified powertrains, featuring internal combustion engines (ICEs). This consists of the 48V mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrain that sports a petrol engine that puts out 136 hp. The mill is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an electric motor.

The all-new Peugeot 5008 can also be had with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that features a 150 hp engine and a 123 hp (92 kW) electric motor, resulting in a system output of 195 hp. Peugeot says this variant can churn out over 80 km of all-electric range.

Inside, the all-new Peugeot E-5008, like other modern Peugeot models, come with the brand’s Panoramic i-Cockpit. In the GT variant, the head-up display (HUD) and central touchscreen are now integrated into the curved 21-inch display that “floats” on the dashboard. This is thanks to the car’s ambient LED lighting accentuating the “floating” effect. Speaking of the ambient LED lighting, it is customisable with eight colours and is extended across the dashboard, and to the front and rear doors.

As for the Allure variant, you also get the panoramic panel, but the large screen has been shrunken down into two 10-inch panels instead. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are included as standard, along with the ChatGPT AI chatbot.

Peugeot has wrapped the E-5008 Allure’s front seats with a combination of “leather effect” and fabric. The GT variant’s seats get a combination of “leather effect” and Alcantara.

As mentioned, the all-new Peugeot E-5008 is a 7-seater SUV. To provide optimum modularity and comfort, its second-row seats combine a 60/40 bench sliding seat with 40/20/40 backrests. The backrests of the second-row seats can also recline independently in five positions.

Peugeot has also made accessing the third-row seats easier with its Easy Access system. This allows the seats in row two to be fully tilted and slid forward simultaneously. Manoeuvring is simple, thanks to a latch located on the upper part of the seat back.

On the safety side of things, the Peugeot E-5008 is equipped with the French carmaker’s Drive Assist Plus 2.0 system, which comes with more than 40 driver assistance and safety systems and equipment. Among the safety features that come with the E-5008 include adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, semi-automatic lane change, and advance speed recommendation. The all-electric SUV will go on sale in Autumn this year.
