Ora 07 now open for booking in Malaysia, to debut in March 2024

Ahead of its scheduled launch sometime in March 2024, GWM Malaysia has now announced that the Ora 07 is now “open for booking”, through a registration-of-interest form on its official website (link here).

As part of its pre-launch promotions, the company will be offering customers who pre-book the “streamline electric coupe” a complimentary five-year free maintenance package, including costs for both parts and labour.

No pricing information is available just yet, but the company has previously confirmed that it will be available in two variants here in Malaysia: Long Range and Performance.

The former packs a single-motor front-wheel drive set-up, with a rated output of 204 hp (150 kW) and 340 Nm of torque, while the latter boasts an all-wheel drive drivetrain courtesy of an additional motor on the rear axle, doubling its outputs up to 408 hp (300 kW) and 680 Nm.

Both variants are powered by the same 83.5 kWh battery pack, but due to the difference in drivetrain set-up, the Long Range variant, as the name suggests, is able to travel significantly further at up to 640 km (NEDC) in a single charge, compared to the 550 km (NEDC) on the Performance.

Annoyingly, detailed charging information is not available publicly for the Ora 07, but the company does say that the Ora 07 can be charged from 30-80% in approximately 30 minutes via DC fast charging, hinting at a charging capacity of approximately 80-100 kW based on some rudimentary maths.

Since the model will be fully imported from China for the time being, the equipment list for both variants should largely mirror those in Thailand. That means LED headlights, panoramic glass roof, and 18- or 19-inch wheels on the outside, with unique styling to match the Panamera-esque exterior silhouette. The Performance variant will also get an electrically-retractable spoiler for added aerodynamic performance.

Inside, the Ora 07’s supercar-inspired dashboard design is highlighted by the unique ‘triple-gauge’ 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, tan leather upholstery, as well as ambient lighting.
