2024 BYD Seal now open for bookings in Malaysia – 3 variants, RM1,000 booking fee

The BYD Seal is now open for bookings in Malaysia you can make your order online through BYD Malaysia’s official website. There are 3 variants on offer, namely the “Dynamic”, “Premium”, and “Performance”. The Seal comes with a booking fee of RM1,000.

The BYD Seal will rival the likes of the Tesla Model 3 and the upcoming Ora 07/Lightning Cat. As such, we may expect it to undercut or at least match the price tag of the Model 3 which starts at a price of RM189,000.

The three variants for the BYD seal start with the entry-level Dynamic variant. It sports a single electric motor on the rear axle that delivers 150 kW (203 hp) and 310 Nm of torque. Power is supplied by a 61.4 kWh LFP blade battery pack, which translates to an electric driving range of 460 km (WLTP). There are only 2 colour options for this variant – Cosmos Black and Aurora White.

Up a tier is the Premium variant which is also a single-motor RWD variant. It is slightly more powerful with rated outputs of 230 kW (313 hp) and 360 Nm, courtesy of the larger and more powerful 82.5 kWh LFP battery pack. The bigger battery also means more range – BYD says the Premium variant is capable of travelling up to 570 km (WLTP) on a single charge. It also gets one additional colour option over the Dynamic variant – Atlantis Grey.

At the top of the range is the Performance variant which gets a dual-motor AWD setup. It makes 530 hp and 670 Nm. This variant has a range of 520 km (WLTP). The Performance variant adds an exclusive colour option – Arctic Blue.

All three variants share the same 7 kW single-phase on-board AC charger. This takes 8.6 hours for a full charge on the Dynamic Standard Range, and 15.2 hours for the other two higher-end variants. The Premium and Performance variants also get a higher DC charging capacity at up to 150 kW (10-80% in 37 minutes), compared to the 110 kW on the Dynamic Standard Range variant.

With the BYD Seal now open for bookings in Malaysia and the Ora 07 soon to enter the Malaysian market, EV buyers will have more options when shopping for something like the Tesla Model 3.
