Hyundai Creta facelift debuts – new 1.5L TGDi engine, 7-speed DCT



The facelifted Hyundai Creta has made its world debut in India. Sporting a fresh new look on the outside, the changes made to the Creta are more skin-deep. In India, the facelifted Creta comes with more than five trims, along with three engine options.

Exterior-wise, the Creta facelift features LED headlights and LED rearlights that extend across the width of the car, giving it a more dynamic look. A total of three powertrain options are offered for the Hyundai Creta facelift in India, including the brand-new 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine that makes 160 hp (metric) and 253 Nm. The mill is exclusively paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

There is also a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated MPi engine that produces 115 hp (metric) and 144 Nm. This engine option can be paired with either a CVT or a 6-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain has been carried over from the pre-facelift model and can be found in the Malaysian-spec Creta.

Also offered with the Hyundai Creta facelift is the 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine. Mated to either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission, the engine is capable of putting out 116 hp (metric) and 250 Nm.

Inside, the Hyundai Creta has received a major revamp with this facelift exercise. As a result, it now looks more modern than before. Kits available with the Creta facelift include a twin 10.25-inch infotainment head unit and digital instrument display, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, Electric parking brake (EPB) with auto hold feature, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system. The crossover is also fitted with a panoramic sunroof which Hyundai emphasised can be voice-controlled.

In the safety department, the Hyundai Creta facelift sports the Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). This includes features such as lane keep assist (LKA), lane following assist (LFA), adaptive cruise control (ACC), and front collision avoidance (FCA).

Closer to home, the Hyundai Creta made its launch in April 2023, is fully imported from Indonesia, and is offered in sole variant with a RM149,888 price tag. Powering the car is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated inline-4 Smartstream engine, exclusively paired with a CVT gearbox.
