Video: 2023 Hyundai Creta, Proton X50 rival from RM150k – 5 Things

Hyundai has just launched its new B-segment SUV, the 2023 Hyundai Creta in Malaysia. Available in a single variant, the fully imported (CBU) Hyundai Creta is priced at RM149,888.

Sharing the same platform with its cousin, the Kia Seltos, the Hyundai Creta is positioned just under the Hyundai Kona, its bigger brother. However, the Creta is slightly larger than the Kona.

From the outside, we see the 2023 Hyundai Creta featuring Hyundai’s Parametric Jewel grille, a design pioneered by the Tucson. Hidden within the grille are the LED DRLs, which are only visible when turned on. The Korean B-segment SUV also features LED headlights, LED tail lights, and single-tone 17-inch wheels.

Powering the 2023 Hyundai Creta is Hyundai’s 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated Smartstream engine, mated to a CVT transmission. This powertrain is capable of pushing out 115 hp (metric) and 144 Nm of torque. Suspension-wise, Hyundai has also given the Creta MacPherson struts on the front and Coupled Torsion Beam Axle (CTBA) on the back.

Safety-wise, the 2023 Hyundai Creta comes with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA) and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA). It also gets Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Driver Attention Warning and High Beam Assist (HBA) as well.
