Are you a CEO of a multinational company? Well, Toyota might have given you two new excuses to upgrade your boss carrier, with the launch of the all-new Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge and Toyota Vellfire here in Malaysia. Prices for the luxury MPV twins are RM538,000 and RM438,000 respectively, on the road, without insurance.
Like in the past, the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire both share the same outer skeleton but with different styling approaches. Both get LED headlamps, and daytime running lights (DRLs), along with 19-inch alloys.
Powering the all-new Toyota Alphard is the new 2.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine found in various Lexus models, and is mated to a Direct Shift 8-speed automatic transmission. This results in a total of 278 hp (metric) and 430 Nm sent to the front wheels.
Under the hood of the all-new Toyota Vellfire is the same 2.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine from the previous generation model, but now makes slightly more power at 182 hp (metric) and 235 Nm. The mill is mated to a Super CVT-i gearbox.
Inside, the all-new Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge is finished in Nappa leather upholstery, a set of luxurious Executive Lounge VIP seats, a head-up display, and even a remote control for sound, air-conditioning, and ventilation systems. The Vellfire on the other hand gets synthetic leather upholstery, as well as executive power seats, among other features.
The 2023 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire also get power-adjustable front seats, with the driver getting memory function as well. There is also a twin panoramic glass roof with independently operable shades, a motorised side window pull-down sunshades, which is a first for a Toyota model, and a Lexus-esque 12.3-inch coloured TFT instrument display, among other things.
Safety-wise, both the Malaysian-spec 2023 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS3) safety suite. This includes features such as a pre-collision system (PCS), dynamic radar cruise control system (DRCC), lane departure alert (LDA), and more.
