Ora Good Cat now available in Pistachio Green, with quirky ‘paw’ design

Since Great Wall Motor (GWM) launched the Ora Good Cat in Malaysia in November 2022, it has gained quite an amount of attention across the country. Just when you think the car has received enough attention, the Chinese carmaker has just dressed its feline car in a new colour – Pistachio Green. Only available with the 500 Ultra variant, its price tag remains the same at RM169,800.

The Ora Good Cat in its new Pistachio Green ‘dress’ was being showcased at GWM’s roadshow at the Sunway Velocity Mall, on May 19, 2023. Besides its new colour on the outside, what’s different about the Pistachio Green Ora Good Cat from its regular counterparts?

To start, its interior is finished with a sea of Pistachio Green colours. This includes the steering wheel, dashboard, seats, door panels, and armrests. The door panel and the upper part of the front seats are finished in checkered green patterns as well. The aircon vents are painted orange as well. Just in case the Ora Good Cat’s feline identity isn’t obvious enough, GWM’s designers have added a cat paw element on the armrest as well, a design element available with the Pistachio Green Ora Good Cat.

Just in case you didn’t know, the Ora Good Cat is GWM’s fully electric hatchback. Sitting on a 2,560 mm wheelbase, the Good Cat is about as big as the Proton X50. Don’t let its size fool you, it is bigger than it looks in pictures.

Both the 400 Pro and 500 Ultra variants of the Ora Good Cat are powered by a front-mounted electric motor, giving them 143 hp (metric) and 210 Nm of torque. Thanks to a 47.8 kWh and 63.1 kWh battery pack, the Ora Good Cat 400 Pro and 500 Ultra variants are capable of travelling, just as their names suggest, as far as 400 km (NEDC) and 500 km (NEDC) respectfully. Therefore do expect WLTP range figures to be lower.

Charging the Ora Good Cat 400 Pro using a 6.6 kW AC charger takes 8 hours to go from empty to full, while the 500 Ultra takes 10 hours. Using a 60 kW DC charging on the other hand will take the 400 Pro from 0 to 80% in 46 minutes, while the 500 Ultra will require 60 minutes to go from 0 to 80% as well.

In regards to safety, the Ora Good Cat is packed standard with a series of safety systems. This includes SAE Level 2 autonomous driving system, front collision warning (FCW), lane keeping assist (LKA) and lane centring assist, “wisdom dodge” system, tyre monitoring system (TMS), and more.

Choosing the 500 Ultra variant will get you extra safety features such as a ‘full-auto’ intelligent parking system, auto-reversing assistance, emergency lane keeping (ELK), door-opening warning rear collision warning, and more.
