While you may have already seen the Ora Good Cat in Malaysia, there is another electric cat that will soon reach our shores. It is the Ora Lightning Cat, a Panamera-like electric saloon from the Chinese carmaker. According to our sources close to the matter, the Ora Lightning Cat’s indicative price is below RM200,000. Lucky for us, we had a chance to have closer look at it at Auto Shanghai 2023.
It is hard to ignore the Panamera resemblance of the Ora Lightning Cat. Like the Ora Good Cat, it employs a retro-futuristic styling with its circular headlights and overall roundish features. The brand refers to the Lightning Cat as a “Super streamline pure electric coupe”.

As for dimensions, the Lightning Cat measures 4,871 mm long, 1,862 mm wide, and 1,500 mm tall. Its wheelbase is 2,870 mm long. For reference, it is about the size of a Honda Accord. There are four colour options for the Lightning Cat, namely ‘Tourmaline Grey’, ‘Smoked Amethyst’, ‘White Jade’, and ‘Ice Powder Diamond’.
Powertrain-wise, there are two options for the Lightning Cat for its several variants. There is a single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) powertrain option and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) option as well. The single-motor FWD version makes 150 kW (204 hp metric) and 340 Nm. The dual-motor AWD version makes a total output of 300 kW (408 hp metric) and 680 Nm. Both motors in the dual-motor version are identical.

Battery capacity is reportedly 84 kWh and this provides a range of up to 705 km (CLTC) for the “Long Battery Life” variant. Other variants of the Lightning Cat have arrange of 555 km (Deluxe and Premium) or 600 km (AWD High Performance). As for charging, only the DC charging time is detailed, which is under 30 minutes to reach 80% from 30%.
