Video: 2023 Kia Sorento now in Malaysia, 6/7-seater SUV from RM211k

The all-new 2023 Kia Sorento has just been launched in Malaysia, with three variants on offer starting from RM211,498. But with so much competition in the segment, can this Kimchi-flavoured SUV stand out from the crowd?

Watch our video below to find out everything you need to know about the 2023 Kia Sorento!

In terms of styling, the all-new 2023 Kia Sorento is truly a “step-change” over its predecessor. The new “Refined Boldness” design language mixes just the right amount of sportiness on the outside, without discounting on ruggedness and class.

In terms of equipment, the 2023 Kia Sorento gets LED lighting as standard across the range, alongside 18- (seven-seater) or 19-inch (six-seater variants) wheels. The entry-level seven-seater variant also loses out on the roof rails, but everything else on the outside is the same across all variants.

Inside, the 2023 Kia Sorento also sees a major redesign with a much more premium appearance. Seating configurations include a seven-seater option for the entry-level variant, and two six-seater options for the higher-end specification.

Standard equipment here include the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, dual zone climate control with rear air conditioning vents and third-row manual controls, eight-way powered front seats (driver gets additional two-way lumbar support adjustments), folding second-row seats with remote folding capabilities, reverse camera, two USB charging ports for each row of seats, and a wireless charging pad.

The two higher-end six-seater variants add on a 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, leatherette upholstery, second-row sunshades, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a 360-degree surround-view monitor.

As for powertrains, you get the option between a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four engine, making 177 hp and 232 Nm paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox, or a 2.2-litre turbodiesel mill with 199 hp and 440 Nm, paired to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission – the latter only available on the range-topping six-seater.

The two six-seater variants will also have all-wheel drive as standard, while the seven-seater only get front-wheel drive.
