2023 Toyota Vios ‘teased’ ahead of Malaysian launch, sporting 17-inch wheels

Not long after the ‘GR festival’ by UMW Toyota Motor in Malaysia, another exciting news surrounds Toyota as the next-generation 2023 Toyota Vios has been teased, albeit not on Toyota Malaysia’s official channel. Images of the next-generation Toyota Vios for Malaysia have been shared by local celebrity Sean Lee in an Instagram post that has now been deleted.

In Malaysia, the Toyota Vios is currently in its third generation which has been given a major facelift in 2019. First introduced to Malaysia in 2003, the Vios has been one of the favourite B-segment saloons in Malaysia for close to 20 years.

While it has yet to make its official debut in Malaysia, the next-generation Toyota Vios is already available in Thailand, albeit known as the Toyota Yaris Ativ. Developed on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA), the Vios/Yaris Ativ in Thailand is powered by 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine (94 hp/110 Nm) paired to a Super CVT-i automatic with Sequential Shift.

The all-new Vios is also already available in Indonesia, in three variants – 1.5 E MT, 1.5 G CVT, and 1.5 G TSS CVT. In Indonesia, the all-new Vios is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that makes 106 hp (metric) and 138 Nm. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual box or a CVT.

The outgoing Toyota Vios is available in the ‘J’, ‘E’, and ‘G’ variants. There is also a GR Sport version that has now been joined by the new Corolla Cross GR Sport and Hilux GR Sport.
