BYD Atto 3: Malaysia’s first 100 units delivered at Grand Delivery ceremony

The first 100 units of the BYD Atto 3 have been delivered in Malaysia in a ‘Grand Delivery’ Ceremony over the weekend. Taking place at Sime Darby’s International Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, the 100 units of the Atto 3 were flagged off, officially making their first EV steps into the world.

Launched in Malaysia in December 2022, the Atto 3 is available in two variants, namely the Atto 3 Standard Range which costs RM149,800, and the Atto 3 Extended Range which costs RM167,800.

Over 1,000 bookings were received for the Atto 3 in the first 10 days since its launch and just last week, 500 units were shown being shipped to Malaysia. Now, 100 units of the EV SUV are officially on Malaysian roads.

The two variants of the Atto 3 come in two battery sizes. The Standard Range gets a 49.9 kWh battery for 345 km of driving range (WLTP), while the Extended Range variant houses a 60.5 kWh battery for 420 km of emissions-free driving. Charging can be done via the on-board 6.6-kW AC charger, or 70 kW of DC fast charging on the Standard Range variant, and 80 kW for the Extended Range.

Powering the Atto 3 (as standard) is a single electric motor that drives the front wheels only. The motor delivers 203 hp and 310 Nm and the Atto3 does the century sprint in 7.3 seconds.

While the exterior of the Atto 3 is nothing to shout about, the interior features a unique “Muscle Streamline” design language that sets a ‘Fitness’ theme for the cabin. Going along with the theme are the treadmill-inspired armrest and the dumbbell-inspired air conditioning vents.

The BYD Atto 3 pilots the BYD brand into Malaysia, leading the way for BYD cars like the Seal and Dolphin. BYD is officially distributed by Sime Darby Beyond Auto and the company plans to have 40 showrooms in Malaysia by the end of 2024.
