All-electric BYD Atto 3 receives over 1,000 orders in just 10 days

Launched in Malaysia on December 8, 2022, the BYD Atto 3 managed to garner over 1,000 bookings in just 10 days since it landed in Malaysia. The all-electric BYD Atto 3 is the pilot model for the brand in Malaysia, which is officially distributed by Sime Darby Beyond Auto.

In a Facebook Update, the company posted images celebrating the 1,000th order of the BYD Atto 3 in the brand’s showroom in TREC Kuala Lumpur. BYD Malaysia will open showrooms in Ara Damansara, Penang, and Johor by the first half of 2023. By the end of 2024, BYD targets to have 40 showrooms nationwide.

The BYD Atto 3 is offered in two variants in Malaysia, namely the Atto3 Standard Range and the Atto 3 Extended Range. The Standard Range offers 345 km of range (WLTP) from a 49.92-kWh battery while the Extended Range offers 420 km of range (WLTP) from a 60.48-kWh battery.

Both cars can be charged at a maximum rate of 6.6 kW for AC charging and 70 kW for DC fast charging. Like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, the BYD Atto 3 is capable of vehicle-to-load function (V2L) at a rate of 2.2 kW.

Powering the BYD Atto 3 is a single electric motor that makes 203 hp and 310 Nm. All power is sent to the front wheels and the Atto 3 does the century sprint in 7.3 seconds.

Looking sleek and rather unassuming on the outside, the BYD Atto 3 has a bizarre interior that is sure to divide opinions. With a ‘fitness’ theme, the Atto 3’s interior has a ‘Muscle Streamline Design’ for its trims, dumbbell-inspired air conditioning vents, and a treadmill-inspired front armrest.

Customers can look forward to receiving their cars in the first quarter of 2023. With an attractive price starting at RM149,800 for the Standard Range variant, the BYD Atto 3 might be the EV to create critical mass in terms of EV adoption in Malaysia.
