BMW Group Malaysia together with Tian Siang Premium Auto today opened two new EV charging facilities at The Datai Langkawi, a five-star beach Resort on Langkawi Island. Covered in a wooden encasing at the entrance of the beach resort, the charging facilities are two 11-kW AC BMW i Wallbox Gen 2 chargers. Only resort guests can access the chargers.
In conjunction with the unveiling of the chargers, BMW is also inviting the guests of The Datai Langkawi to experience the BMW iX through a limited-time test drive opportunity. This is to further accelerate the adoption of electromobility on the island.
BMW Group Malaysia Head of Corporate Communications, Sashi Ambi said, “BMW Group Malaysia has always believed that sustainability is a shared responsibility. As we continue to realise our vision of carbon-neutral mobility in Malaysia through our premium fully electric BMW i vehicles and the expansion of our comprehensive BMW i Charging network, we are pleased to collaborate with like-minded partners, such as The Datai Langkawi – alongside our dealer, Tian Siang Premium Auto.”
“This partnership underlines our commitment to providing a Premium Electric Ownership Experience to all electric vehicle (EV) owners across the country – an experience that exemplifies sustainable luxury and is in tandem with our national agenda for electrification in Malaysia.”
Tian Siang Premium Auto Managing Director, Tan Ka Kin said, “With the new BMW i Charging facilities introduced today, we are thrilled to be powering a total of 12 premium charging facilities across the northern regions of Malaysia – bringing greater access to electromobility in major locations outside the Klang Valley. This gives us confidence that interest for EVs in these regions will continue to rise as we work to present Sheer Electric Driving Pleasure to our customers here.”
The Datai Langkawi General Manager, Arnaud Girodon said, “Sustainability and conservation are at the core of our business strategy, and we integrate these values into all aspects of our company ethos, operations, and guest experiences at the resort. Offering this BMW i Charging station to our guests is just one of our many efforts in moving towards cleaner air and regenerative travel, to reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rich biodiversity of Langkawi for generations to come.”
